Def Leppard, Rage Against the Machine and the MC5 are among the hard rock and alternative rock bands nominated for induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame next year. There are some nominees that have been around through multiple cycles as well, including four-time nominee LL Cool J.

The Rock Hall introduced several impressive first-time nominees, including British heavy-metal pioneers Def Leppard Among the returning nominees are rap-rock rebels Rage Against the Machine and enigmatic five-piece Radiohead. The same is true for Def Leppard, Devo, Prine, Roxy Music and Rundgren.

Other finalists include Todd Rundgren, Rufus and Chaka Khan, LL Cool J, The Zombies, Devo, John Prine, MC5, and Kraftwerk.

Many complainers think the nominees should be voted in by rock fans rather than the RRHOF officials.

Since 2012, fans have also been given the chance to cast their vote.

The top five vote-getters will be on a "fan's ballot" and included alongside the results from others sent to "more than 1,000 artists, historians and members of the music industry" who make up the Hall's voting body.

To be eligible, an individual artist or band must have released its first commercial recording at least 25 years prior to the year of nomination.

Inductees will be announced in December. If you sign up to the Rock Hall website, you are able to vote once a day for whomever you think deserves an induction.

The 2019 induction ceremony will be held Friday, March 29 at the Barclay Center in Brooklyn, New York. Ticket on-sale information will be announced in January.
