Bollywood actor Tanushree Datta known as the Jamshedpur girl who rose to fame with her bold and sexy roles opposite Emraan Hashmi, recently accused veteran actor Nana Patekar of assaulting and harassing female actors on the sets of Bollywood movies. Dutta had been signed for a song in the film but was later replaced by Rakhi Sawant. She added that though people spoke about the controversy, nobody took action. She was quoted as saying, "When I had complained about the same to the producer-director and told them to ask him (Nana Patekar) to stay away from me, they didn't pay heed".

According to a Times of India report, Dutta had filed a complaint in 2008 with the Cine and Television Artistes Association, demanding compensation for damage to property and her reputation.

She said, "The entire industry saw what happened but there was not one word of condemnation from anybody". In an interview to Zoom, Tanushree said, "Everyone knows about Nana Patekar that he has always been disrespectful towards women". Similarly, she adds, even though everyone would gossip about Patekar's alleged attitude towards women, no publication picked up the story.

She added, "Akshay Kumar has made few films with Nana Patekar in last eight years and Rajinikanth also recently worked with him (in Kaala)". Indian actors such as Radhika Apte, Richa Chadda, Swara Bhasker and Konkona SenSharma have spoken about it, without revealing names. She told the publication that she had brought up allegations of sexual harassment in the industry way before Hollywood took on the issue a year ago through the Me Too movement, but no one had paid heed to her. She also told, she didn't get opportunities in the industry after she opened up on the harrassment incident. "Everybody saw what happened but the memory and the popular perception of it is that Tanushree Dutta spoke up against harassment and then she was no more", she said. Dutta was last seen in Jag Mundhra's Apartment (2010). Her film credits include Dhol (2007), Good Boy, Bad Boy (2007) and Saas Bahu aur Sensex (2008).
