"My game does not change no matter who I'm alongside side".

"It's just always humbling for me anytime I get the chance to be part of something special", James said.

But his film and TV interests off court have made just as many headlines in Hollywood as his big-money move to the Lakers.

"I don't ever base anything off that", said James.

"But I'm a basketball player". 'I play ball. That's what I do.

James also rejected a suggestion that the Lakers would need to win a championship to be deemed successful.

James was famously a proponent for J.R. Smith's inclusion in the trade for Iman Shumpert and in his first year with the Lakers, he's once again using his credibility to help lift some of the league's marginalized players.

National Basketball Association fans have all the jokes about the Los Angeles Lakers rostering talented but mercurial players including JaVale McGee, Lance Stephenson, Rajon Rondo and Michael Beasley - the Meme Team, if you will. There's going to be wins and losses, but what you control is how you prepare every day. We're all new to each other. We're a new ball club trying to get better. So we have to take our bumps and our bruises. That's what happens with a team that's new. If we continue to work the process and continue to sacrifice for one another and put in the commitment and time to being great, everything else will fall into place'. Two seasons after Bryant's retirement, the Lakers have been replenished by the arrival of James and the veterans that he assembled around him.

"Obviously I'm not going to start at centre".

The less pressure on the Warriors in the media and more spotlight on LeBron and the Lakers should help the Warriors focus on winning a third consecutive championship.
