With Warner Bros. and DC entertainment getting closer to assembling its team for its Harley Quinn pic "Birds of Prey", the studio has dated the film for February 7, 2020.

Margot Robbie's return to the DCEU as Harley Quinn is officially confirmed with the planned Birds of Prey film receiving its official release date. She will produce via her LuckyChap banner alongside Sue Kroll of Kroll & Co Entertainment and Bryan Unkeless of Clubhouse Pictures. Jurnee Smollett-Bell (Underground) and Gugu Mbatha-Raw (The Cloverfield Paradox)-along with singer/songwriter Janelle Monae, who had a stand-out role in the Oscar-winning Moonlight-are all reportedly in the running to play Black Canary.

The official Birds of Prey baddie will be Gotham City crime lord Black Mask (aka Roman Sionis), who has never been depicted onscreen before - according to The Wrap. Sources add that the studio may possibly do another round of tests this week but have not determined if it would be a new round of women or same group. The film is expected to begin shooting at the beginning of 2019. There's an untitled Disney live-action title slated for February 14 - oh, and MGM's Bond 25 - and now Birds of Prey nests on the first weekend in February, which will include such competition as Sony's Peter Rabbit 2 and Paramount's animated feature The Loud House. A Suicide Squad sequel to be directed by Gavin O'Connor is also in active development, but Glenn Ficarra and John Requa's Harley Quinn Vs The Joker romance movie and David Ayer's Gotham City Sirens now appear to be on the backburner.
