'Good evening everyone. Nothing much to say about that but I'm very happy and very proud, ' Salah said after winning the Puskas award.

The unforgettable overhead kicks of both Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale were sights to behold last season and there were several other strong contenders for the honour but Salah won out in the end.

Salah is also in a three-way battle with Luka Modric and Cristiano Ronaldo to win the Best FIFA Men's Player award.

And that strike was honored Monday at a ceremony in London, topping a shortlist of 10 goals nominated for 2018 Puskas Award following an online poll of fans.

The Liverpool star won for his curling effort against Everton last season.

It was a remarkable debut campaign at Anfield for Salah, who arrived from Roma in June 2017.

The Liverpool forward scooped the award, which goes to the player who is deemed to have scored the most aesthetically pleasing goal in world football over the previous year.

Nominees for the award included World Cup goals scored by Russia's Denis Cheryshev, France's Benjamin Pavard and Portugal's Ricardo Quaresma.
