Perez pays tribute to Ronaldo and Zidane

Zidane guided Madrid to an unprecedented three successive Champions League titles in less than three years at the helm, opting to step down a few days after completing the hat-trick in May.

The two iconic figures left the club this summer for different reasons as they both made a decision to face new challenges in their careers.

Ronaldo had an astonishing £1bn buyout clause in his Real contract, but Perez has been quick to state that the astronomical figure in Ronaldo's contract was just to make sure that the club can gain as much money for their star players, if they wish to move on.

Both former employees could cross paths with Real in the future and the club have said they will be welcomed in open arms.

Perez said: "He is the top scorer in the club's history and a worthy successor to (Alfredo) Di Stefano".
