Allen, Bills stun heavily favoured Vikings

The offense was able to sustain the ensuing drive, but Stephen Hauschka connected on a 50-yard field goal to give Buffalo a 27-0 lead. But arguably the best reaction came from cornerback Tre'Davious White, who mocked Cousins' famous "You Like That" as he went down the tunnel. The line was 16.5 or 17 points pretty much everywhere, and the Vikings seemed to play it cautious with a couple key players' injuries as they face a short week in Week 4.

Allen hurdled Vikings linebacker Anthony Barr on a run for a first down, and took a solid hit as he completed the run.

With running back Dalvin Cook (hamstring) inactive and the score so lopsided, the Vikings set a franchise record for fewest rushing attempts with six.

"(That was) probably as poor of a first half as I've seen in quite a while", Vikings coach Mike Zimmer said.

A week later, they lost 31-20 to the Chargers in a game where the final score wasn't indicative of how badly they played, to the point that Vontae Davis legitimately retired at halftime. And this was a no-show. Minnesota would have won that game if rookie kicker Daniel Carlson had made just one of three field-goal attempts and the organization thought they solved that issue by signing veteran Dan Bailey last week. Remember, Baily wanted to play for a contender.

The Vikings (1-1-1) were 16 1/2-point favourites when the game began, allowing the Bills (1-2) to become only the sixth such underdog in the NFL's last 81 point spreads that big.

The team is now 1-2 on the season.
