With the webhead's new game on the PS4 making critical waves as one of the most evocative superhero experiences ever put to game, it's no surprise that sales figures would be equally astounding. It's been shattering records since before it was released, and now that the first release numbers are in, the wallcrawler's wall-breaking hasn't let up. That's a record for Sony. It seemed like God of War would hold the record of fastest-selling PS4 exclusive for quite some time - selling 3.1 million copies in three days is no small achievement, after all - but then Insomniac came along with Spider-Man to snatch the record away.

Sony also said that one million copies of the game were pre-ordered ahead of release, which happens to be another record. Now, that title has been passed on to Spider-Man, which accrued 3.3 million sales during its first weekend. How does a video game outsell a Marvel movie on its opening weekend?

USA Today estimates that Spider-Man for PS4 made about $198 million off those initial 3.3 million copies. Are you excited for the upcoming Black Cat DLC "The City That Never Sleeps"?

Sony Interactive Entertainment, Insomniac Games, and Marvel have teamed up to create a brand-new and authentic Spider-Man adventure. I'm still mulling it over in my head, but I think that the Spider-Man theme to Marvel's Spider-Man is up there with Danny Elfman's composition that was used in the original Sam Raimi trilogy of Spider-Man films.
