Matthew Perry took to Twitter for the first time in around half a year to reveal he's spent the last three months in the hospital.

Carlo Allegri / Reuters Matthew Perry, pictured in April 2017, said he was in a hospital bed for several months.

In August, the 49-year-old actor, best known for playing Chandler Bing on Friends, underwent gastrointestinal surgery at a Los Angeles medical center to fix a gastrointestinal perforation, aka a ruptured bowel. "Check", Perry wrote in what marked his first tweet in nearly six months.

The 49-year-old actor, best known for his role as Chandler Bing on Friends, most recently played Ted Kennedy in the mini-series The Kennedys: After Camelot.

A source close to Perry told PEOPLE that Perry is in "good" condition and is "going home finally".

According to The Mayo Clinic, a gastrointestinal perforation means that a hole appeared somewhere in his gastrointestinal system, possibly from some other unrelated health issue or trauma.

He then went into rehab again in 2001, for addictions to Vicodin, methadone, amphetamines and alcohol.
