Leonard Fournette Doesn't Need To Practice In Order To Face Patriots

"I like [his chances of playing] now since the day's been going on more and more", Fournette said Thursday afternoon. "Why do I want to jump?"

"If [Brady and Gronkowski] both decide in 2019 they want to continue playing, I would not be the least bit surprised if they went someplace together", he said.

This Sunday's showdown obviously is a huge test for both teams, and the Jags nearly certainly would like to exact some revenge after losing to the Patriots in last season's AFC Championship Game with a trip to Super Bowl LII on the line.

The Jaguars are slated to host the Patriots in a rematch of last season's AFC championship game at 4:25 p.m. ET Sunday.

"Of course any person would give anything to play", Fournette said.

While we've stated how important it is for Blake Bortles to make the right throws when the team calls his number, it goes without saying the biggest key will be to control the clock by running the ball - and doing so effectively. "It's a great football team we're going against - very competitive".

Fournette was asked about balancing the desire to play with being smart about the injury early in a 16-game season.

Marrone told reporters that he did not watch the tape from the Eagles' victory over the Patriots in last year's Super Bowl either, although he added that his defensive and offensive coaches "obviously" did ahead of this weekend's game.

"I think it was from me planting", he said.

"My main focus is to strengthen it back up - to get the swelling or whatever it is in there, then come out Sunday and play", Fournette said.
