IPhone XS Max: How it compares to Pixel 2 XL, Note 9

The phone doesn't have gigabit LTE like the XS does, although it does support T-Mobile's new rural Band 71. The only potential hiccup to a record-breaking quarter is the fact that the iPhone XS won't launch until October. The iPhone Xs is at last official - alongside the iPhone Xs Max and iPhone XR, and despite all the secrecy and speculation, it's much as everyone expected it to be. The difference between the XR and the XS comes primarily in the screen, camera, and modem. If you have been on an iPhone Plus you could go with the iPhone XS, which has with 5.8-inches a larger screen than the iPhone 8 Plus (5.5-inch), but why compromise? It's got the same basic design of the iPhone X and XS, with a large edge-to-edge screen.

The main camera is getting an upgrade with a 12-megapixel wide-angle and 12-megapixel telephoto on the back. The 7MP TrueDepth front camera can do portrait lighting along with as Animojis and Memojis.

The phones are equipped with faster processors and better memory capacities than ever before, relying on Apple's new A12 Bionic chip.

This gives the phone up to 15% faster performance cores and up to 50% faster graphics performance. With the XR, Apple manages to take numerous standout features of the iPhone XS and encase them in a candy-coloured shell that costs £250 less.

This means it can be submerged up to 1 metre for a duration of up to 30 minutes.

As you can always expect, the latest iPhones come with pretty heavy price tags.

If you need a brand new iPhone but not willing to spend more than RM4,000, Apple has also announced a cheaper version that's called the iPhone XR.

Demanding the style and slender bezels of the iPhone Xs, but with a budget for a less expensive device, it slots in as the entry-level option in Apple's 2018 range. You'll have to wait a bit longer for the iPhone XR, which launches on 26 October, with preorders from 19 October. The limited time we had with the iPhone XS Max, we were impressed by the OLED display Apple has incorporated. Now you would think that a 6.5-inch screen size would be very big, right?

The XS and XS Max have dual 12-megapixel rear cameras and a dual 7-megapixel selfie camera - just like the iPhone X.

The iPhone Xr is also splash and water resistant, with a rating of IP67, and will also come in six new finishes: white, black, blue, yellow, coral and the exclusive (PRODUCT) RED edition, which helps raise awareness and inspire action to fight HIV/AIDS.

Apple on Wednesday unveiled updated versions of its priciest iPhones along with a new smartwatch that allows users to take their own electrocardiograms, as the United States tech giant looks to boost its momentum in a sputtering market.
