Dua Lipa Issues Statement After Fan Is Dragged Out Of Live Show

The videos show security staff pulling people from their seats, and crowd members apparently being attacked by security guards outside the National Exhibition and Convention Center in the city's Qingpu district.

Although some social media users have said that fans were ejected because of "safety concerns"-as some venues in the country do not allow fans to stand up during performances-others have accused security of removing guests because they were waving Pride flags".

Another said security had "forbidden fans" from standing up or waving LGBTQ flags, and claimed that the drama had Lipa herself in tears.

Towards the end of the show, the 23-year-old songstress - who appeared to be crying - addressed the audience about wanting "to create a really safe environment for us all to have fun". And just have a really good time. But her stop in Shanghai on Wednesday night (September 12) was marked by an incident directly affecting a group of her fans.

"I am proud and grateful that you felt safe enough to show your pride at my show". I want us all to sing. Fans are also seen protesting at the actions.

"What you did takes a lot of bravery", she continued. I always want my music to bring strength, hope and unity.

"I was horrified by what happened and I send love to all my fans involved", she added.

The rights in China are behind that of the United Kingdom, meaning that the fans who shared the flag were actively persecuted.

"Many fans at the front rows were holding the rainbow flags high, and I heard they were ordered to take down the flags, especially the fans in the first three rows..."

According to BBC, although homosexuality is not illegal in China, anti-LGBTQ attitudes are still very much present.

While another added: "I just found out that at Dua Lipa's last concert, the security of the place expelled fans who wore an LGBT flag, which is a disgusting injustice".
