But for a good long time, it became the purview of horror and nothing else.

Joel and Ethan Coen have created a new six-part Western anthology film, The Ballad of Buster Scruggs, scheduled to arrive on Netflix in November.

If there is one thing the Coen brothers knock out of the park (and there are many things they knock out of the park), it's westerns.

Other cast members include Willie Watson as The Kid, David Krumholtz as Frenchman in Saloon, Stephen Root, Ralph Ineson as The Man in Black, Harry Melling as Artist, Tom Waits as Prospector, Zoe Kazan as Alice Longabaugh, Bill Heck as Billy Knapp, Grainger Hines as Mr. Arthur, Jackamoe Buzzell as Another Man, Tyne Daly as Lady, Jonjo O'Neill as Englishman, Saul Rubinek as Frenchman, and Chelcie Ross as Trapper. Also, apparently Franco's character cheats death at least once.

Though the movie is called The Ballad of Buster Scruggs, that title applies only to the first short.

Originally announced a limited television series, Buster Scruggs was revealed to be a feature film when it was confirmed as an official competition entry for the 2018 Venice Film Festival.

Joel and Ethan Coen have had tremendous success in the western genre over the last several years.

Netflix will release The Ballad of Buster Scruggs on its streaming platform and in select theaters November 16.
