Revenge can tear at the soul and be used as a weapon, but it can also make for some rousing trailer fodder, as we see here in this new promo for Netflix's Outlaw King.

The trailer for Netflix's Outlaw King gives audiences their first real look at the upcoming historical drama starring Chris Pine. The screenplay for Outlaw King was written by Bash Doran, James MacInnes, and David Mackenzie, with additional writing by Mark Bomback and David Harrower. The festival is the ideal launch pad for our realistic epic, and we are delighted to be the first Scottish film ever to open Toronto. Thankfully, Pine's struggles with his accent have not put a damper on his performance (nor on his status as The Best Chris), which looks perfectly soulful and tormented.

You might remember R-the-B from 1995's Braveheart, where he was played by Angus Macfadyen to Mel Gibson's William Wallace.

Speaking last week following the TIFF announcement, Mackenzie said: "Thank you TIFF for welcoming our film into the world". The next few years would be full of tumult, as Robert the Bruce took on Edward I and Edward II, eventually signing a peace treaty with Edward III.

The film follows Robert The Bruce on his journey from defeated nobleman to national hero during the oppressive occupation of medieval Scotland by Edward I of England.

Unlike other Netflix original movies, Outlaw King will be shown in theaters in addition to its online streaming release.
