Casting Scripts Leak, Showrunner Responds

The casting scripts/sides for The Witcher Netflix series have been leaked, but showrunner Lauren S. Hissrich has reassured fans that what is contained in those scripts will not be making it into the show and that "all is ok in the #Witcher world".

The first script is a back and forth between Geralt and Yennefer as they prepare to head to a ball, and the second is an exchange between Yennefer and a king who has overstepped the bounds of propriety and is about to get his comeuppance.

It's important to note from the outset that these scripts are exclusively for casting purposes, and, as showrunner Lauren S. Hissrich pointed out on Twitter, "they are not real scenes or scenarios or even storylines from the show".

Whilst they don't offer any genuine dialogue for the show, it offers a lens into what the team behind the show are looking for in prospective actors for the series, and how they plan to portray characters like Geralt and Yennefer.

.

Hissrich responded on Twitter, saying, "We write scenes to evoke specific emotional reactions in actors".

"It's fascinating to watch the PASSIONATE debate about Geralt's and Yen's thoughts/emotions/intentions on the casting sides", she said.

Despite Hissrich's statement, however, it's likely that we'll see some similarities between what we can see in the scripts, and what will eventually air.

"Don't worry", she said.

Other than the names of some characters you'd probably expect to show up, then, the casting scripts don't tell us all that much. "Everything from "this reads like canon" to "Geralt would NEVER say that word.' I only hope 'Witcher" fans are as invested in the, you know, actual series".
