Poco F1 India Launch Confirmed For August 22: Expected Price and Specifications

The official POCO Facebook and Twitter pages are already sending out teasers of its first - the POCO F1 smartphone.

Xiaomi's Poco F1 smartphone will be launched at an event in New Delhi, India on August 22. The POCO brand is to be a small outfit within the China-based firm that focuses on building affordable flagship style devices to counter the trend of ever-ballooning flagship prices in the smartphone industry. The new Xiaomi sub-brand is spearheaded by the company's Jai Mani.

The video also reveals the rear of the Pocophone F1 which appears to be made of plastic, which is acceptable to keep its prices low.

While POCO claims to have the freedom to start anything from scratch, it still runs on Xiaomi's MIUI 9 out of the box. See you on August 22, 2018. Breaking from the stereotypes of its parent company Xiaomi and offering something extra especially with regards to affordable flagships. Under the hood, the POCO F1 will be the powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 octa-core processor. Now, the new POCO F1 will be first hitting the Indian shores.

- The Poco F1, according the the hands-on video, will have a design reminiscent of the Mi 8 which invariably means that it would have an iPhone X-like design. The phone will reportedly come with at least 6GB RAM and at least 64GB storage although an 8GB RAM and 128GB storage version has also been tipped previously.

For optics, the POCO F1 will feature a 12MP + 5MP dual-camera setup powered by AI features like other Xiaomi phones. The website also gave away a few key specifications details like Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 and a large 4,000mAh battery.

The camera will also have AI capabilities and hopefully, a Portrait Mode might become a part of the software, just like what came with the Mi 8. "The front gets a 5.99" IPS display with a notch and surprisingly it has an IR camera for face unlock.
