Samsung Galaxy Watch review (early verdict): the Gear S3 successor has arrived

Unfortuantely, if you're not using a brand new Samsung device, you won't get the Galaxy skin. It's the first Samsung wearable to deviate from the Gear family name, but it looks like a successor to the Gear S3.

Samsung also said the popular shooter game "Fortnite" is coming to Android and will be exclusive to Samsung phones until Sunday.

Samsung has revealed its new Galaxy Home smart speaker that will rival Amazon's Echo and Apple's HomePod.

The focus on gamer-friendly features appears to be a shift away from Samsung's previous positioning of the Note as a productivity-boosting device, and is an attempt to lure younger customers as the company's smartphone sales falter.

Galaxy Watch's LTE connectivity is available across over 30 carriers and more than 15 countries.

The Note 8 has uninspiring battery life, but if the new Note 9 can last a little longer and make it comfortably through a day (and well into the next day) that's a real win for buyers and is a genuine upgrade for Samsung. That's pretty vague, so we'll have to test it to get a better idea of what "several days" actually means. The Galaxy Watch, like the Apple Watch Series 2 and 3, is also water-resistant up to 5 ATM.

It's worth pointing out that Samsung says Internet Explorer 11 and older do not support live stream playback, and that if you're watching on a mobile device you'll need to have the latest version of either Chrome or YouTube installed.

After months of speculation and leaks, the Samsung Galaxy Note9 has finally been unveiled in NY! Similar to how Apple's forthcoming AirPower charging mat is supposed to work, this pad can charge both the Note9 smartphone and the Galaxy Watch at the same time.

Samsung is pushing this watch's health features, which go beyond simple activity-tracking (though it does that, too).

The Galaxy Watch also tracks sleep and helps you manage stress, with a feature that establishes your baseline heart rate and then guides you through breathing exercises when your pulse shoots up outside of a workout.

It also offers the usual slate of weather and news briefing apps, and lets users select from a number of different watch faces. The starting price of $1,000 is an increase from the Note 8, but on par with Apple's top-of-the-line iPhone X. The Note 9 will get double the storage, at 128 gigabytes, compared with typical high-end phones, including the iPhone X. Samsung will also sell a 512-gigabyte version for power users for $1,250. The Galaxy Watch will be available in Silver, Midnight Black and Rose Gold colours.
