The Toffees significantly bolstered their squad on transfer deadline day with the arrivals of Bernard, Andre Gomes and Yerry Mina, but their business is not yet done, with a temporary move for Zouma in the pipeline.

Under Premier League regulations, Chelsea and Everton were given an extra two hours to finalise negotiations.

Quoting tweets by Liam Twomey, a journalist close to Chelsea, The Daily Express claims that there has simply been a delay in processing the paperwork and the transfer will still happen. Mourinho desperately needs a centre-back to strengthen his arsenal and having previously worked with Zouma, he is familiar with the calibre that the player possesses.

The Everton manager also let Ashley Williams leave the side on loan to join Stoke City and Ramiro Funes Mori was allowed to join Villarreal.

While Everton haven't confirmed whether they were able to wrap up the deal in time or not, Alan Myers explained for Sky Sports that while it may take till the morning to be announced, the deal is expected to go through.

And now they are trying to push through an agreement to sign Zouma on a season-long loan deal and have submitted a deal sheet with the Premier League to get more time to complete the move.

For that to happen, however, Zouma must make himself part of Silva's new-look defence and then help the Toffees become a formidable defensive unit.
