The CW has apparently found its Batwoman: Ruby Rose is heading to Gotham City.

And Ruby Rose was the image of joy when she swung by The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon for an episode that will air Wednesday evening.

Having played a prison inmate in Orange is the New Black on Netflix, Ruby Rose will return to The CW to take on the title role in a new saga.

"I was so nervous doing the red carpet that I basically skipped everybody, because I kept, like, spontaneously crying", the Aussie actress shared.

"Growing up watching TV, I never saw someone on TV that I could identify with, let alone a superhero", she explained, beginning to get emotional. With Batgirl, "I felt like one motto led me to the other and I just kept crying about it".

Rose's Batwoman casting came weeks after Supergirl picked transgender activist Nicole Maines to fill the series regular role of Nia Nal aka Dreamer, television's first transgender superhero. "I'm also an emotional wreck because this is a childhood dream", she wrote.

And Rose plans to use her new role to inspire and give children a hero they can look up to.

Batwoman, aka Kate Kane, first appeared in Detective Comics in 1956. An openly gay Jewish woman, Batwoman has a military background and has proven herself every bit Batman's equal on the pages of comic books.

Per the logline, as quoted by the magazine: 'Armed with a passion for social justice and a flair for speaking her mind, Kate Kane soars onto the streets of Gotham as Batwoman, an out lesbian and highly trained street fighter primed to snuff out the failing city's criminal resurgence'. But don't call her a hero yet.
