Mauricio Pochettino happy to keep same squad at Tottenham

If we are happy with our squad and can not improve our squad, sometimes it's better to keep our squad together.

Pochettino had been linked with several players and a fresh approach for Aston Villa midfielder Jack Grealish was rebuffed by the Championship club earlier this week.

The England captain - who won the Golden Boot at the recent World Cup finals in Russian Federation with six goals - took part in the rainy session held at the Tottenham training ground in Enfield on Thursday. I think the club is doing an unbelievable effort to try to finish the stadium as soon as possible, and the lodge is finished at the training ground. We didn't sell players and with 25 in the squad it is hard to add.

Mauricio Pochettino says the start of the season is a massive challenge for himself, as well as a number of other clubs.

The window remains open to European clubs until the end of August, so there is still the possibility of players going out even after the English deadline passes. "Until the game finishes you can't say it is the end of the game but in four hours it will be hard to sign players".

"It is hard to understand for people in football that Tottenham didn't sign or didn't sell players - but sometimes in football, you need to behave different". [It's about] if you really need [them] or not and then if you can get your target or not.

"There were many rumours during the summer, about players out".

"I am not anxious, I am not sad, I am so happy".

"Of course the circumstances are completely different from each other, and the profiles of the players are completely different".

"There's no reason to not trust in our squad and no reason not to believe in our club or believe in what we can do".

"I believe in the way that we work and I have no doubt we will be competitive, with or without signings".

Premier League returns this weekend and Tottenham Hotspur kick-off the 2018/19 campaign with a trip to St James' Park to take on Newcastle United on Saturday.
