The track holds special significance for him, as it's the circuit where he won the first grand prix of his career with Honda in 2006.

It's five out of five for the FK8 Honda Civic Type R, the vehicle managing to set a new front-wheel drive lap record at the Hungaroring GP circuit.

The narrow, twisty 4.38km Hungaroring is one of Europe's most technical tracks, with 180 degree corners and a complex chicane. The British driver lapped the 2.7-mile Hungaroring, near the Hungarian capital of Budapest, in 2:10.19 minutes - a new record for a front-wheel-drive production vehicle. This record was set at Hungaroring racetrack which is situated in Budapest, Hungary.

Commenting on the Civic Type R, Button said, 'The first thing I noticed when I left the pit lane was how neutral the vehicle was.

"The thing that surprised me most is how late you can brake with this auto".

World Touring Car drivers Tiago Monteiro and Esteban Guerrieri respectively set benchmark times at the circuits of Estoril, in Portugal and Magny Cours, in France, while Japanese Super GT driver Bertrand Baguette set a 2:53.72 record at the Belgian Spa Francorchamps circuit. The new lap time set in the current Type R is the fifth and final of a series of successful lap record attempts across Europe in 2018. "You always feel a lot more connected to the auto".

Honda has set another European lap record with the help of Civic Type R. To achieve this marvellous feat, Honda took the help of former Formula 1 driver and world champion Jenson Button. "You always feel a lot more connected to the vehicle", he added. Honda Civic Type R record lap at Hungarian racetrack was captured from the inside of the cabin.

The challenge saw five of Honda's racing champions put the auto through its paces around five tracks in Europe, setting new record lap times for a front-wheel drive production vehicle.
