Chelsea's heach coach, Maurizio Sarri, has praised Athletic Bilbao's Kepa Arrizabalaga as the club closes in on a deal for the Spain goalkeeper for a world record £71.6m.

The 23-year-old Spain worldwide is now the most expensive goalkeeper of all time and will join the Blues on a seven-year deal.

Kepa, 23, arrives at Stamford Bridge after a release clause in his contract was met, with the deal surpassing Alisson's £66.8m move to Liverpool.

The Belgian shot-stopper was widely expected to move to La Liga this summer, but the Blues were digging their heels in until a replacement was signed.

Kovacic will join Chelsea on loan until June 30, 2019 as part of the deal, with the Croatia global spending a season away from the club he joined from Inter Milan in 2015.

As per one of the latest reports by Sky Sports, Real Madrid's midfielder Mateo Kovacic is due to undergo medical today to finalise his loan move to Chelsea.

Personal terms will now be discussed and if true, Kepa will be in London tomorrow for a medical and so on.

"We want to keep him at Chelsea, it's a great feeling to play with this kind of player", the French striker told reporters.

Just seven months ago, Kepa's buyout clause was just 20 million euros and it was he who looked set to join Real Madrid in January.

"On Wednesday August 8th 2018, at 12:02 p.m., the Professional Football League has certified to our entity that the player Kepa Arrizabalaga has fulfilled the requirements for the valid unilateral termination of the employment contract that linked him to Athletic Club", read a statement on Bilbao's website.

"Athletic thanks the player for his contribution during the time he has remained in our club".

Mateo Kovacic has seemingly had his way and his wish to leave Real Madrid, where to his knowledge he would still be a fringe player in the coming season.

The 26-year-old is poised to sign a six-year deal with the 13-time European champions and be officially unveiled as a Los Blancos at 12:00 BST time on Thursday at the Santiago Bernabeu.
