London is feeling the heat this holiday weekend.

Heat warnings are issued when very high temperature or humidity conditions are expected to pose an elevated risk of heat illnesses, such as heat stroke or heat exhaustion.

"Thunderstorms are expected to develop this afternoon over portions of southern Ontario". Some of these thunderstorms will have the potential to produce significant rainfall amounts as well as wind gusts to 90 km/h.

The national weather agency said a hot and humid air mass will move into Southern Ontario on Sunday and will remain on Monday.

"Additional thunderstorms may affect the area this evening and tonight as well".

Halifax's heat warning was expected to linger until Wednesday or Thursday, with daytime highs around 30 C and maximum humidex values as high as 40 expected until then.

New warnings were also been issued early Monday morning for parts of western B.C. and much of Alberta, including Edmonton.

"A cold front is expected to to move through the area Tuesday bringing an end to this event".
