Barça's rivals Real Madrid are hoping to take advantage of this situation as well, as they have been heavily linked with a double move for the Belgian pair of Eden Hazard and Thibaut Courtois.

Schmeichel is one name touted as a possible replacement, but Chelsea are yet to make a firm offer, according to Puel.

Sky Sports News understands Chelsea are considering a move for the Denmark global, who helped the Foxes to a ninth-place finish in the Premier League last season.

Chelsea's new manager, Maurizio Sarri admitted in his first press conference for the club that he will wait to speak to players in person before deciding their futures.

"I did what I did in the previous two seasons because I needed to play to be involved in the World Cup - and look where that got me".

When asked if Leicester had received any offers for Schmeichel, Puel said: "No. We need Kasper, with his character, his performance and his consistency".

"I am not troubled about this", said Puel, speaking after his side's 4-1 win over Notts County in pre-season. There is no problem with this.

The Foxes' decision to spend £12m on Liverpool stopper Danny Ward this week only served to increase speculation that Schmeichel could be on his way to Stamford Bridge.

The Sun reports that Chelsea are planning a raid for Manchester City's English keeper Joe Hart.
