Beetz is also set to star in Season 3 of the hit FX show "Atlanta" as well as Steven Soderbergh's next film, "High Flying Bird".

It's got a name ― "Joker" naturally ― and it's scheduled to open October 4, 2019, Warner Bros. announced Wednesday, per Deadline. Filming begins in the fall on the pic, which is expected to be released under a new DC banner.

"Joker" becomes the third title slated for October 4, 2019, joining Fox's thriller "The Woman in the Window" and Paramount's science-fiction "Gemini Man".

Reports of Phillips' Joker origin film first surfaced in August 2017 when it was described as "a gritty and grounded hard-boiled crime film" set in early 1980s Gotham City. While not much is clear about the plot, it is believed that the Joker Origin Movie will be a much darker movie than we've seen from Warner Bros. and DC Films, which sounds pretty interesting. Hey, if you're gonna do that, then Joaquin Phoenix is the flawless man to play the role. The actor believed that the part had been played too many times by too many good actors over the years. Jack Nicholson, Heath Ledger, and Jared Leto have all played the Clown Prince of Crime in the span of almost 30 years.

Jared Leto's portrayal of The Joker in Suicide Squad was met with a lack of enthusiasm, but Joaquin Phoenix may be just the man to pull the Joker out of his slump.

Last month, Phoenix finalized his deal to star as the arch-nemesis of Batman.
