The state of Overwatch's support heroes

Lúcio is the only support hero to receive more than one buff in the upcoming patch.

Affected characters are Ana, Brigitte, Lúcio, Mercy, and Moira. The objective behind the changes is to make the characters competitive with each other. And what that means, it seems, is buffing majority and dialing back Mercy so that maybe someone else will get picked once in awhile. Ana's Nano Boost Ultimate will immediately heal 300 HP when used, alongside the temporary 50% damage boost and 50% damage resistance increase.

Using Nano Boost in conjunction with a Biotic Grenade can make a difference "on even the biggest of tank health pools", Blizzard said.

Shield Bash cooldown increased from 6 to 7 seconds.

The reason behind this choice is that the developers didn't want to mess with her barrier health or other metrics that make Brigitte such a formidable opponent.

Shield Bash is Brigitte's strongest ability, and its short cooldown makes it very hard to play around. Overall Brigitte's win rate is still the highest of any support, despite dishing out the lowest amount of raw healing per second.

Moira is in a great place, but it's easy for her to run out of healing power if the enemy team just doesn't get close enough to charge.

Crossfade aura radius increased 20% from 10m to 12m. To help him out, his auras have gained an increased radius, which will help him affect more of his allies, especially on maps where he's most seen: Control. "For example, Junkrat's ultimate can deal a maximum of 600 damage, which Sound Barrier can now potentially negate completely", Goodman wrote. So now, her healing beam will heal 50 HP per second instead of 60 HP. She is supposed to the the healer that has the most consistently high healing output over the course of an entire match, and she still will after her changes, but at its current level it's so high that she's viewed as a must-pick. While this is now true, the difference in healing is so significant that it makes it very hard for other healers to compete with her for a spot on a team.

Healing resource base regen rate increased 20%. Blizzard thinks Moira is already pretty strong, but the change will help her out in instances where you can't drain enemy resources-really, it'll be important in longer range fights where there are less resources to grab from.
