In a potent crossover blend of American politics and reality TV, Bristol Palin, daughter of 2008 vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin, has signed on to become the newest cast member of MTV's Teen Mom OG.

MTV declined to comment on the news, which TMZ first broke.

The upcoming eighth season of Teen Mom OG - with Palin joining original cast members Maci Bookout, Catelynn Lowell and Amber Portwood - is slated to air this fall on MTV.

Last year, Abraham claimed that Viacom, the parent company that owns MTV, fired her from the series because she took part in "adult promotions and activities". Her husband and father of her two daughters, U.S. Marine veteran Dakota Meyer filed for divorce back in February.

However, the couple, who have been married since 2016, reportedly split up earlier this year.

The younger Palin has three children by two baby daddies, the first of which she had at age 17 when her mother's political career was at its peak.

As for her experience in the industry, Palin is no stranger to reality TV. She also appeared alongside her family in the TLC reality series Sarah Palin's Alaska and starred in the Lifetime series Bristol Palin: Life's a Tripp.

According to TMZ, Palin was signed after Teen Mom Farrah Abraham was sacked from the show because she was hard to work with (Abraham contests this explanation, saying that she was let go because she was an adult film star).
