Singapore Airlines named world's best airline in Skytrax awards

In a statement, the airline said it had won the award at the 2018 Skytrax World Airline Awards held yesterday at The Langham, London. Travellers across the world vote in the largest airline passenger satisfaction survey to decide the award winners.

Other accolades include China Southern Airlines winning the world's most Improved airline, continued success for Garuda Indonesia being named the world's best cabin crew, Norwegian as the best long-haul low-priced airline.

At the same time, no U.S. airline cracked the top 35.

AirAsia was named world's best low-priced airline, the 10th year in a row it has won the award.

Singapore Airlines is voted the World's Best Airline in 2018 by travelers, with Qatar Airways taking 2nd place and ANA in 3rd position.

Al-Mohanna added: "The Skytrax award is a result of flynas' strategy, which is based on providing the best customer service such as, the first travel insurance service in Saudi Arabia and naStream service that was launched on the 1st of July 2017 via passengers' personal smart devices".

Skytrax chief executive Edward Plaisted said: "A key "wow" factor for customers is consistency and this proved to be a real asset for Singapore Airlines, which scored highly across both product and service".

Qantas dominated the awards for the Australia-Pacific region, taking out best airline, best first class, best business class, best economy class and best staff. The awards tend to favour the bigger airlines but are seen as a useful guide to how they are delivering customer service. Other notable awards included Garuda Indonesia winning world's best cabin crew for the fifth year in a row, Emirates winning best inflight entertainment for its 14th year running, and China Southern winning most improved airline.

Looking at over 355 airlines, elements such as quality of service, boarding assistance as well as cabin cleanliness and comfort are all taken into account.

Singapore Airways was also named the best in first-class. Lufthansa 9. Turkish Airlines 10.
