It turns out that Amazon's technical glitch Monday that prevented Prime Day shoppers in the USA from accessing the online store for a few hours didn't hamper the e-commerce giant's biggest sales promotion of the year.

Often dubbed the "Black Friday" of Amazon, Prime Day, which kicked off Monday at 3 p.m. ET, is a 36-hour savings event offered by the online retailer for its Prime members. However, in characteristic Amazon fashion, we don't have any concrete numbers on how many sign-ups the company netted or how many of their own products they sold. At best, some Prime members found humor in the canine photos, but other shoppers were justifiably less amused they couldn't start bargain-hunting.

The internet powerhouse ran into some early snags Monday afternoon, as deal-seekers flooding Amazon's servers ended up getting images of dogs along with the words, "Uh-oh".

However, Walmart, Amazon's main competitor, which also featured a slew of deals for Prime Day has been mum on its sales this week.

In total, over half a million toys were sold during Prime Day.

Despite technical issues in the US, Feedvisor claims Amazon post a 89% jump in spending during the first 12 hours of its global Prime Day sale.

Eighty percent of the anti-aging cream's reviews are four and five stars, and the top-selling moisturizer has racked up a reputation for reducing wrinkles (especially the forehead "thinking line"), fading under eye bags, and making skin smoother and more youthful-looking.

Amazon now has over 6,000 registered employee-owned dogs that roam the company's headquarters. According to Verdi, the biggest German union in the services sector, 2,400 workers were taking part.

Amazon created Prime Day in 2015 to mark its 20th anniversary, and its success has inspired other e-commerce companies to invent shopping holidays. Amazon has millions of merchants selling goods on its marketplace, mostly small and medium-businesses that had sales exceeding $1 billion during the promotion, Amazon said in a statement.
