The series will be set in the same continuity as Ta-Nehisi Coates' Black Panther series and will see Shuri dealing with issues at home with Wakanda missing its leader.

T'Challa who? Black Panther's techy little sister Shuri is now getting her own comic book series, according to an exclusive report from Bustle. Art will be by Eisner-nominated Leonardo Romero. She's previous written Black Panther: Long Live the King and is now working on Wakanda Forever at Marvel and Antar: The Black Knight over at IDW.

"[Shuri is] an African young woman of genius level intelligence who is obsessed with technology and has traveled spiritually so far into the past that she's seen Wakanda before it was Wakanda". Shuri, yanked out of her lab by the call of duty, is next in line to the throne. "And she's super ambitious". Here's hoping it gives us more of what fans fell in love with thanks to Letitia Wright's portrayal of her in the Marvel blockbuster.

In an email to Bustle, Okorafor said she was excited to tell Shuri's story in the new series.

Two years later, the Black Panther movie became a success and took more than $1bn (£795m) from cinemas worldwide.

The series follows her as she takes the reins after her brother and titular hero, T'Challa, disappears into space. Queen Shuri in the house!

What do you think of Shuri getting her own comic? "She'd rather be testing gauntlets than throwing them", reads Marvel's description of the book.

When will you be able to dig into this dopeness? She also possesses a "formidable mind", as the movie's great writing made clear: "Just because something works", she notes at one point in the flick, "doesn't mean it can't be improved".

Regardless of whether that happens here, Marvel Studios have already promised that Shuri's going to be making future appearances beyond her brief turn in Infinity War.
