To help you communicate with your driver without taking their attention off of the road, we've made sending a message simple. With Spotlight, you can light up your phone with a special color specific to your driver. In these instances, Uber's on-time guarantee comes in handy.

Riders can notify their driver of what they're wearing so that they can spot them more easily, or inform their driver that they'll be right there.

Additionally, Uber has launched Guaranteed Scheduled Rides, which allows riders to schedule a ride in advance with a guarantee that the driver arrives on time or Uber will give the rider a $10 credit towards their next ride.

I'm sure I'm not the only person to have had to give up after an Uber driver has gone to the wrong side of a building, or even to have someone else steal their ride by hopping in. Uber didn't specify when the new features would be available, but an update is now rolling out in the Play Store.

If an Uber beacon is installed, after they've confirmed a ride request, the rider's app prompts them to choose a color.

Drivers can install it themselves rapidly, and remove it quickly too.

Uber announced some new tools for tricky pickups today.

Now, riders can use Uber's app to light up their phone screens with a specific color, giving drivers a clearer sense of which levitating smartphone to look for. The latest batch of features, which focus on streamlining the pickup process, should help accomplish that goal by reducing the number of rides that get cancelled and thus, boosting overall efficiency for both riders and drivers. These messages are read out loud to drivers and they can reply with pre-populated smart messages in a tap.
