Target offering 15 percent discount for teachers starting Sunday

A recent Staten Island Advance/SILive report explored how teachers often have to stretch their supply budgets, even spending their own money to ensure that their classrooms are fully equipped. Target is offering a back-to-school discount to help cut down on the cost of school supplies.

- Target wants to ease the burden on teachers' wallets as they fill out their classrooms before the first day of school.

Teachers can get classrooms ready for the coming school year and save 15 percent on supplies at Target's Teacher Prep Event kicking off July 15.

Target says teachers interested in the deal will first need to visit Target.com/teacherprep starting July 15, share some "quick details" and then grab a coupon code.

The average amount of money those teachers paid out of pocket was $479.

About 44 percent spent $250 or less, while 36 percent spent from $251 to $500.
