When Fortnite Season 5 Downtime Will Begin

That's because it's just announced the formation of the Fortnite Summer Skirmish series, a set of tournament-style events that will pit some of the best and most recognizable Fortnite players in the world against each other to get a share of the $8 million prize pot. Of course, Fortnite fans can only hope that what's to come in Season 5 will have been worth the wait.

The game will still be playable until around 4 a.m.

Once the servers are back online, gamers will be able to jump straight into the new Season 5.

Once 4 a.m. EDT rolls around, detailed patch notes will be posted on the Fortnite blog that fully explain everything Season 5 has to offer. Fortnite has taken the video game industry by storm in recent months, and Epic is preparing to launch the game into its fifth season. Be sure to finish up all unfinished clips before they're gone for good.

Epic Games has been teasing fans with posters and hints for the last week offering clues into the new theme of Season 5, but we might once again get a new trailer that helps shine a light on the new season.

It's equally possible that we could be getting some rather significant map changes on the Battle Royale mode, so it's also possible that this could be the most extensive update the game has seen to date. PUBG was the one to show the way for the other games in the battle royale arena, but Fortnite was quick to catch up and leave PUBG behind, tasting dust. But PUBG seems to have found its sweet spot with its Android port. Fortnite is only available on iOS, in terms of mobile device and for the time being, has managed to rack up quite a profit from it. Season 5 will begin simultaneously across all platforms.
