Police say a New Jersey man found his wife and a vehicle mechanic dead of apparent carbon monoxide poisoning.

Authorities are not releasing the names of the victims but ABC 7 reports that the woman's name was Tameka Hargrave. Shortly before 8:45 p.m. today, police responded to 18th and New Fairview avenues on a call of sick or injured persons. Multiple news outlets have reported that Hargrave and the mechanic were allegedly having sex when overcome by the fumes, but law enforcement authorities have not officially confirmed that information.

Kahali Johnson told WABC-TV he found the bodies about 9 p.m. Tuesday in a garage at an apartment complex in Newark.

Johnson blamed the deaths on carbon monoxide poisoning.

Sources told the station the man killed was the woman's mechanic.

Johnson said that he arrived at his New Jersey home home and found the two dead in the garage.

'She's just a few feet away, she's laid out. They say the two were having sex in a auto in the garage when they were both killed by carbon monoxide poisoning.

'We want to know why - what was she doing in the vehicle?

Family friend Kelly Mitchell said she couldn't get her head around Hargrave's death. "She was everything to me".

'I just want my mother back.

One of her daughters, Khalisha Johnson, told CBS she didn't understand why they hadn't been installed considering other security precautions had been taken.

Emergency responders and police are on the scene investigating a possible carbon monoxide poisoning incident with fatal injuries reported at this time.
