The driver of the auto that struck George Clooney as he was riding a motor scooter on the Italian island of Sardinia apparently had no idea the man who hit his windshield and went flying is a Hollywood superstar.

George Clooney was injured after getting into a motorbike accident in Sardinia, Italy. While a rep for the star told Yahoo Entertainment he "will be fine" after the crash, he was clearly hurting. Amal was by his side, helping him walk.

Clooney, 57, flew high above the auto before crashing down to the pavement on the driver's side.

George and Amal Clooney photographed heading to a private jet with their twins on July 12, following his release from the hospital after his scooter crash in Italy. His elbow appeared to have bruises and cuts on it, though it's unclear if they were related to the crash. "I was about to turn, I just got over the line". In the video, a motorbike ahead of Clooney is actually able to narrowly dodge a black auto when the vehicle suddenly stops in front of it, but the actor isn't so lucky, and smashes straight into the auto.

Viglino, a plumber and a grandfather, described himself as "upset" about the accident. "George Clooney was treated and released from an Olbia hospital", his rep confirmed to HollywoodLife at the time. I recognised him as soon as he took his helmet off. "I hope to see him again", Viglino continued.

The owner of a nearby coffee joint said "there was great confusion". Clooney's motorbike slammed into the dark-colored vehicle head-on.

On Wednesday, footage of the accident, which took place when he was headed to the set of the upcoming TV adaptation of Catch 22, was released showing the impact.

Thankfully, a rep for Clooney told ET that while the actor was hospitalized after the incident, he's now on the mend.
