The Los Angeles Lakers have been celebrating the signing and arrival of LeBron James, who is expected to turn around the team after its worst stretch in franchise history.

He became a member of the Producers Guild with his recent producing credits on the spec script for a film called Hustle, which deals with a basketball scout who tries to bring an outstanding Chinese prospect into the NBA.

LeBron is set to produce the film with his SpringHill partner Maverick Carter. SpringHill has been active in selling production projects around Hollywood, but on Wednesday we got the first word of a new feature film possibly starring James.

The 6ft8 basketball player was previously seen alongside Amy Schumer in the Judd Apatow-directed hit Trainwreck. Paramount Players' Ali Bell and Gabby Canton are also involved with the project.

While his family situation and the opportunity to put his son Bronny Jr. into a top-flight high school for hoops may have played a bigger role, it hasn't taken long for LeBron to take advantage of being in Los Angeles full-time. At-the-time teammate and undisputed best player in the world LeBron James was reportedly not a fan of that. Mallory, the writer, has written a number of comedies, including the Melissa McCarthy movies Tammy and The Boss.

He is represented by WME and Ziffren Brittenham.
