The Magpies revealed that a deal for Kenedy had been done via their official website with them revealing that he was already in Ireland at the club's pre-season training camp.

Newcastle have confirmed that Brazilian winger Kenedy has joined on a season-long loan from Chelsea.

And the 22-year-old admits the support he received from the United faithful made him feel wanted and appreciated - so much so, he was desperate to return to the North East.

The Brazilian was a popular figure at St James' Park, with many fans urging the club to re-sign the player this summer.

Kenedy moved to Chelsea from Fluminense in 2015 and has made 27 appearances for the Blues.

Benitez was equally happy at Kenedy rejoining, adding: "I'm really pleased to have Kenedy back with us". 'I want to keep it going, the work that I did here before, for the new season. I'm sure every fan will be happy with this signing.

He is the club's third signing of the summer, after goalkeeper Martin Dubravka joined on a permanent deal from Sparta Prague and midfielder Ki Sung-yueng arrived on a free transfer from Swansea.

He played 13 times for Newcastle last season, scoring twice.
