The official site has also started taking registrations to determine the demand of the latest development ahead of its formal launch.

While blockchain is traditionally used in the creation of cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin and Ethereum, the technology can also securely create, store, and track ownership of digital assets with real value.

According to HTC, the Exodus phone will launch in the third quarter of this year, which should mean in three months tops. It appears that HTC is looking to make all its devices blockchain-friendly, not just the Exodus.

The game, which involved collecting and trading virtual cats, is an example of non-fungible tokens, an aspect of blockchain technology that provides the basis for creating unique digital assets for collectible games where players compete for rare and scarce items.

While HTC has given little further details on blockchain applications on the Exodus, the company has taken a first step toward safeguarding privacy and preventing the commodification of personal data, it said.

HTC has partnered with CryptoKitties to give a glimpse on how the blockchain technology works.

The Taiwanese company hasn't revealed any details about the arrival of the Exodus.

"In the new internet age people are generally more conscious about their data, this a ideal opportunity to empower the user to start owning their digital identity", said HTC chief crypto officer Phil Chen. On why China isn't on the list of countries for the new smartphone, Chen remarked that it is due to different rules and regulations in the country.
