Hearthstone’s The Boomsday Project Expansion Unleashes New Mechs and Tech This Summer

This upcoming Hearthstone expansion will bring 135 new cards for the players to collect along with nine Legendary Spells. And get ready for Legendary Spells, with legendary effects.

You read that right: draw your whole deck. Myra's Unstable Element costs five mana and lets you draw the rest of your deck. Maybe you could hold onto it until you have no cards in hand and only 10 cards or so left in your deck? In any case, it sure is bonkers.

While this Druid spell is a common card, the developers also mentioned that each class will be receiving a Legendary spell for the first time. Ramping up mana also plays into the Omega cards, which gain bonuses like better stats when played while you're at 10 mana crystals.

Magnetic is a little more complicated. This keyword allows players to merge Mech minions, combining their attack, health, and abilities "to construct amalgamated automatons". It sounds like Blizzard took Deathstalker Rexxar's Death Knight hero power, swapped Beasts for Mechs, and turned it into a keyword, which is actually pretty cool. The example shown is called "Spider Bomb", and it's a Hunter card which can be played as a 2/2 Mech by itself that'll blow something else up when it dies. The new mechanics seem interesting, and Legendary spells are a cool addition, but none of the cards seem too thrilling yet.

The newest single-player experience coming to Hearthstone via The Boomsday Project is The Puzzle Lab. Nearest I can tell, each wing of the Puzzle Lab has its own theme. The Puzzle Lab will feature over 100 puzzles, including Lethal puzzles, which challenge players to win the match from a specific board state, and Survival puzzles, in which players must survive with the odds stacked against them.

As it always has been, players will be able to purchase a 50-pack bundle of the new cards before the expansion arrives along with an exclusive collectible card for $49.99. More details on Mecha-Jaraxxus are expected soon, but players can pick him up by pre-ordering the Boomsday Project Mega Bundle, which comes with 80 card packs, along with a random golden legendary, and the Mecha Jaraxxus card back.

The Boomsday Project also brings a new Warlock hero into the mix: Mecha Jaraxxus, a half-demon, half-machine villain who would make Cyber-Akuma proud.
