Fulham could complete a sensational coup and beat their Premier League rivals to the signing Nice midfielder Jean Seri, according to a report in England.

The Ivory Coast worldwide had been linked with a host of clubs around Europe and Goal had recently reported that the player was keen on a move to Serie A side Napoli, but he has evidently been convinced that a move to the Cottagers was the best option for him.

Fulham vice-chairman Tony Khan was overjoyed with the new addition, adding: "I'm delighted to announce that Fulham Football Club has signed midfielder Jean Michael Seri from Nice".

Seri scored 11 goals in 121 appearances across all competitions for Nice after joining the Ligue 1 side from Pacos de Ferreira in 2015.

The Blues, though, appear to be closing in on a deal to sign Italy worldwide Jorginho from Serie A side Napoli, which perhaps explains why their interest in Seri may have cooled.

Slavisa Jokanovic's side have also completed their second summer signing in Seri's Nice team-mate, Maxime Le Marchand.

The French defender, 28, played 81 times for the club.

Seri said: "I'm delighted to be here, it's a new adventure that starts for me and I'm hoping it will all go well".

Speaking at Motspur Park on Thursday morning, Seri told Fulham's official website: "It was a long day yesterday so it was great to get the move finalised. I know that there is a lot of hard work ahead and I hope to bring my very best to this team".
