Diane Lane to topline FX’s adaptation of ‘Y: The Last Man’

Irish actor Barry Keoghan has landed the leading role in an upcoming pilot from cable channel FX based on the acclaimed comic book series Y: The Last Man.

The post-apocalyptic sci-fi comic book series Y: The Last Man is set in the aftermath of a mysterious plague that has wiped out every male mammal except for Yorick Brown (Keoghan) - an amateur escape artist - and his monkey, Ampersand.

Previously, we had heard that Jodie Foster was in talks to star in the show as Yorick's mother, the politician Jennifer Brown; As it turns out, that role will instead be filled by Diane Lane.

Imogen Poots will play Yorick's sister, Hero Brown, an EMT who eventually joins up with the apocalypse cult of the Amazons before going down her own path. Keoghan is repped by WME, Management 360 and Troika UK.

Senator Brown is a first-term junior senator who already has a reputation of putting her personal goals over political ideals, according to the FX character description.

Lynch will play Agent 355, a Secret Service agent who performs the duties of her job with the utmost professionalism, even under the most unexpected set of circumstances.

Juliana Canfield (Succession) as Beth. She finds something endearing about the hapless Yorick and when they're together, there's the undeniable spark of two kids in love. Finally, Marin Ireland (Sneaky Pete) will play Nora, the president's senior assistant. She is repped by CAA and Troika. Canfield is repped by ICM Partners and Brookside Management. "She effortlessly balances family life with a job navigating the corridors of power". Ireland is repped by ICM Partners and Untitled. Melina Matsoukas of Insecure will direct the pilot. The series is executive produced by American Gods co-showrunner Michael Green and Luke Cage EP Aïda Mashaka Croal along with Nina Jacobson, Brad Simpson and Brian K. Vaughn.
