George Clooney has been rushed to hospital after his scooter collided with a auto in Sardinia, local media report.

"George was treated and released from an Olbia hospital", the rep told "Good Morning America" in a statement Tuesday.

Local reports say he was on his way to the set when a auto hit the bike he was riding. The actor was riding his scooter on the island of Sardinia, when he was hit by a vehicle and came off his bike.

Cicognani told CNN he had spoken with Clooney, who said he was "fine" and would resume filming of a miniseries based on "Catch-22", the Joseph Heller book, in a couple of days.

The clip shows George slam into a Mercedes before flipping over the handlebars of his bike and being flung into the air.

Clooney is now filming his new TV series "Catch 22" on the island. While it's possible that these details are rather exaggerated, considering TMZ's history of treating rumors as facts, there have been enough reports to verify that Clooney's accident was quite serious.

A tweet from the paper appeared to show the bike next to a auto with a cracked windscreen. An ambulance took Clooney to the nearest hospital, where an MRI scan revealed that the actor was not seriously injured, according to police and health officials.

He has a home on Lake Como and was married in Venice in 2014 to the British human rights attorney, Amal Clooney.
