The victor of the 2018 World's Ugliest Dog competition, Zsa Zsa the English bulldog, has died aged 9. She was 9 years old.

She spent give years of jer life at a puppy mill in Missouri before being rescued by a non-profit organisation called Underdog Rescue, and was then adopted by Ms Brainard.

A little more than two weeks after winning the 2018 World's Ugliest Dog contest, Zsa Zsa the English bulldog from Anoka has died.

"I'm still in shock", she said.

The nine-year-old English Bulldog whose lolling tongue and crooked underbite made her the victor back in June died in her sleep, the post stated.

She was laid to rest by owners Megan and Jesse Brainard and 15-month-old daughter Mareslie at the family home. "It's probably going to be the same with her passing".

Brainard described the dog's death as "devastating" in an interview with Today.com, which first reported the news.

Though it may seem a dubious honor, the Ugliest Dog contest seeks to demonstrate "the importance of advocating for the adoration of all animals", according to its website.

"From the moment we saw her handsome face, we knew we would be her forever home", her owners said in a statement on the contest's website. "We were all saying our goodbyes". "It was sweet. She was waving at her".

Zsa Zsa is known for her pink toenails and long tongue.
