New signing Lassana Coulibaly was anxious he was the victim of a prank call when Rangers boss Steven Gerrard phoned to discuss a move to Ibrox.

Umar Sadiq has featured on the rumour mill for Rangers for a while now and earlier this evening he became our second signing of the day as joined on loan from Roma.

"He told me about the players and said everybody would be at my side if I came here to help me and he would also help me to go forward in my career".

The fans already seem to have given him an interesting nickname but I'll let you discover that for yourselves, I couldn't possible repeat the intimation here!

"When they asked me if I want to join this team or not, I said yes but I thought it might not really be Gerrard!"

"In football you never know what is going to happen but hard work pays and with the work I am going to do here I think I will be successful".

"I play midfield, I'm strong and physical and I can get the ball from the opponent for my team".

"In Nigeria we do follow the English Premier League but also the Scottish Premiership". I don't watch the league, but I know about Celtic and Rangers in Scotland.

Coulibaly, a Mali worldwide, could still be added to Gerrard's Europa League squad with Gers set to begin their qualifying campaign on Thursday night against Macedonian side Shkupi.

"He asked me if I wanted to join his team, and I said yes, although I was anxious it wasn't actually Gerrard [on the phone]!"

"I am very happy to be here", he told Rangers TV.

Mali global Coulibaly, who has been capped 10 times, admits the lure of playing for Gerrard was too good to turn down.

"He can help me to develop".

Sadiq will join the likes of Connor Goldson, Jamie Murphy, Allan McGregor, Jon Flanagan and Scott Arfield as new signings at Ibrox, and will give Gerrard a new look team to take into his first managerial combat with.
