Nearly a year after the fateful vote on the republican healthcare bill, Alaska's senior senator Lisa Murkowski is once again in the spotlight following President Donald Trump's nomination of Brett Kavanaugh to the United States Supreme Court.

President Donald Trump's upcoming nomination of a new U.S. Supreme Court justice has everyone talking about the possibility of Roe v. Wade being overturned. But will the fate of Roe v. Wade really be sealed the moment President Trump nominates the replacement for Justice Kennedy? If confirmed, Kavanaugh would likely be the fifth vote on the court to overturn Roe.

Meanwhile, pro-life groups like Alaska Right to Life say they're cautious about the nominee. "I'm proud to be part of a pro-life administration that's advanced pro-life policies".

When Bash asked Pence if he would still like to see Roe overturned, the devout anti-abortion advocate responded carefully: "Well, I do, but I haven't been nominated to the Supreme Court".

Kavanaugh, left, President Trump's nominee for the Supreme Court, and Vice President Pence at the Capitol on Tuesday.

"The President believes that the proper consideration for a nominee to the Court is not about litmus tests", Pence said in response. "They don't want the court to have any repute placed upon it by the American people, that would be the result, and they know that, so they are going to play things close to the vest, they are not going to overrule these iconic decisions".

Former Planned Parenthood president Cecile Richards appeared on "Hardball" to proclaim "abortion existed before Roe and it was simply illegal and unsafe and young, healthy women died routinely in emergency rooms across this country and that's what we're looking at again if this court tips to the other side". "The things to be anxious about are the future cases. that's where a Justice Kavanaugh, if confirmed, can make a difference", said Fitzpatrick.
