"You discovered a walking, talking dummy and you didn't tell me?!". And the actor doesn't seem to be the only thing Goosebumps 2 is borrowing from its more adult-oriented horrors-come-to-life cousin; that dusty abandoned R.L. Stine house in the trailer is a dead ringer for the house on Neibolt Street from IT.

Yesterday, Sony and Goosebumps teased the release of the trailer with a tweet from the film's villain, Slappy.

Summer is in full swing, which means it's time to start getting your Halloween costumes ready. Ari Sandel directs the sequel from a script by screenwriter Darren Lemke (Turbo).

Wendi McLendon-Covey (The Goldbergs), Madison Iseman (Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle), Chris Parnell (Archer), and Ken Jeong (Dr. Ken) round out the cast.

It also doesn't look as if Odeya Rush, Dylan Minnette, and Ryan Lee will reprise their roles as Hannah Fairchild, Zach Cooper, and Champ, respectively. The first film made $156.7 million on a $58 million budget, and hit #1 on the sales charts when it was released on home video.

Jack Black has built a career out of playing the best song in the world (tribute), yes, but also starring in family-friendly movies. The sequel takes a similar spin, but seems to remove Black's R.L. Stine from the equation. And like the older kids, it's expected that Stine will show up in the last third of the movie to help contain his creations and save the town from a complete monster takeover. You can check out the first trailer from Sony Pictures along wth the official poster.

Haunted Halloween will creep into cinemas on 12 October this year.
