"City of Lies", which was called "Labyrinth" during production, stars Depp as former LAPD detective Russell Poole and tells the story of the police investigation of Tupac Shakur and Biggie Smalls' murders.

Johnny Depp is being sued after he attacked a location manager on the set of his upcoming film City of Lies. Brooks said he was asked to get the permit extended to accommodate Depp, who wanted to direct a longer version of the scene with two friends. "You have no right to tell me what to do!" The lawsuit obtained by Us claims that Depp responded, "Who the f-k are you?"

Brooks claimed the actor had already punched him twice in the rib cage, before bodyguards are said to have removed him from the scene.

Depp is then said to have added: "I will give you $100,000 to punch me in the face right now".

It has been a tough few years for Depp who, in 2017, sued ex-managers Joel and Robert Mandel at The Management Group (TMG) for $25 million, alleging fraud and negligence, claiming they mishandled his finances and caused him to rack up more than $40 million in debt.

Depp, who Brooks claims smelled of alcohol, reportedly had to be dragged away by body guards, though the film's director, Brad Furman, claimed that the incident was overblown.

Brooks said he was sacked from the "City of Lies" production three days later after he refused to sign a release giving up his right to sue Depp over the incident.

Brooks alleges that the film, set for release this September, was being filmed in April 2017 at the Barclay Hotel in Los Angeles and that it was his job to ensure filming complied with city permits. When he declined, he says, he was sacked.

The lawsuit is just the latest setback for Depp, whose financial woes have played out in the media amid multiple court cases.
