Family of Ohio State doctor says it's cooperating in probe

Ryan hasn't called on Jordan to resign or step aside, saying instead that he is awaiting an investigation from the Ohio State University before he comments on Jordan's future.

But two former wrestlers, Yetts and Mike DiSabato, dispute Jordan's account.

Eisen already has dubbed the case Wrestlegate.

Politico also reported on Friday that six former wrestlers said they were regularly harassed in their training facility, and that although some said Jordan was not to blame, they also said "it would have been impossible for him not to notice the pervasive toxic atmosphere surrounding the team".

He also argued that the man in question, the doctor who allegedly abused the wrestlers, is dead, "so this isn't even about prosecuting him", he said.

"The well-being of student-athletes was all of our concern", the statement continued. "If we had heard of any abuse, we would have spoken up", said the statement, signed by Hellickson, and former assistant coaches Dave Ruckman, Rex Holman, Ken Chertow, Myron Kharchilava and Kenny Ramsey Jr.

"I support Jim Jordan", Massie tweeted on Sunday. It was also responsible for hiring Fusion GPS, the company that produced the now-famous dossier containing allegations about President Trump's connections to Russian Federation.

On Monday, Norm Eisen, President Barack Obama's ethics czar, and Fred Wertheimer, president of Democracy 21, a nonprofit watchdog group, filed a request with the Office of Congressional Ethics to launch a preliminary investigation into Jordan's denials that he was unaware of abuse.

The university is now investigating whether Strauss committed such abuse, which is alleged to have taken place between the 1970s and 1990s. "It was there. He knew about it because it was an everyday occurrence", according to the Washington Post.

Some ex-wrestlers from the late 1980s and early 1990s say they were groped by team doctor Richard Strauss and that Jordan knew then about the alleged abuse as an assistant coach. Jordan has denied this as well. "No one ever reported any abuse to me".

Dan George told the Asbury Park Press there were more people who supported Jordan than were accusing him. "I have nothing but respect for this man, but he knew as far as I'm concerned". "If everybody didn't know, the reaction would be a lot different".

DiSabato, whose allegations against Strauss prompted the university to investigate, called Jordan a liar outright.

In interviews with The Associated Press in recent weeks, seven former athletes and a former nursing student shared detailed allegations of sexual misconduct dating back to the 1970s against the doctor who is only now under investigation. They say DiSabato has a long-running beef with Ohio State University over the loss of his right to license merchandise and say he is pulling Jordan into the scandal in order to publicize the scandal to the detriment of Ohio State.

DiSabato said he never spoke up about Strauss while he was at the university because he didn't recognize it as abuse and because he didn't want to jeopardize his wrestling career.

The same excuse Trump gave us about the Access Hollywood tape, Jim Jordan's now trying to use that as some kind of excuse for not reporting sexual assault on multiple students, who were in his charge. Larkins was home to intramural activities as well as the wrestling team, which moved to the Steelwood Athletic Training Facility. I think we have to look at these things in context.

Jordan has denied having knowledge of the alleged abuse since former wrestlers first told NBC News in a report published last week that Jordan was aware of Strauss's behavior at the time.
