Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah actor Kavi Kumar Azad passes away

Television actor Kavi Kumar Azad, who is popularly known for his character of Doctor Hansraj Haathi in Tarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashma, has passed away today. He then went into a coma yesterday night and breathed his last this morning, as per reported by a leading entertainment daily.

Azad complained of uneasiness in the morning and he was rushed to Wockhardt Hospital in Mira Road, where he was declared brought dead at 12:10 pmon Monday.

Expressing shock over his demise the show's producer, Asit Kumar Modi, said, "He was an fantastic actor and a very positive person". He called today morning that he is not well and will not be able to come for shoot.

It is a sad day for the cast, crew and fans of Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah. The actor passed away an hour before, reports suggest.

Just a few days ago, team Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah had celebrated the completion of 2500 episodes.

Apart from making people laugh with his comic acts in TMKOC, Azad had also worked in several Bollywood movies including Amir Khan's Mela and Fantoosh.

The TV series is believed to be India's longest running sitcom.

The show is based on the column Duniya Ne Oondha Chashma written by columnist and journalist Taarak Mehta for Gujarati weekly magazine Chitralekha.
