6 held, SIT formed in Chhapra gang rape case

In the complaint filed by the victim from Chhapra district, she stated that she was gangraped by two teachers and the principal of her school from the past seven months.

Ajay Kumar Singh, Deputy Superintendent, Saran, told reporters, "We've arrested the principal, a teacher and four students and produced them in court".

In the complaint, the girl claimed that she was being blackmailed and being sexually assaulted since her father was jailed in December 2017. In the days and weeks that followed, other students, the principal and two teachers allegedly raped her.

"The victim has named in all 18 persons as her perpetrators in the FIR registered with the women's police station", the SP said. The blackmailing continued and the teachers, as well as the school principal, gang-raped her.

A student of Class 9 in Deepeshwar Niketan in Parsagarh, the girl could not muster the courage to file a police complaint in the absence of her father and her tormentors recognised that she was vulnerable.

The police action came after the victim approached Superintendent of Police Har Kishore Rai.

The girl said she did not report the abuse immediately, "fearing society would ostracize" her, the English-language Hindustan Times newspaper reported.

The girl's statement was given to the women's police station and The girl was brought to Sadar Hospital on Friday for a medical examination the report of which is expected to come soon. "One of my teachers then had stopped me from complaining to police warning that I would put my brother's life to risk", the girl told police.

Officials in Bihar estimate at least 250 minors and women have been raped in the state in the first six months this year. A medical board was formed as well for better investigation of the case. She said that firstly a fellow classmate raped her and made a video clip.
